So called because of the combination of the betel leaf and the areca nut. There are thousands of betel nut stalls all over Yangon. This one was in the Chinatown area. These betel quid makers have the green betel vine leaves laid out coated in the white lime paste. As well as the actual areca nut, they add an array of herbs and fillings, including tobacco,cloves, cinnamon, camphor, and cardamom seeds. I also saw them add a green liquid which is apparently some chemical. The Betel Nut stall are everywhere
They are extremely fast at making these small packages or 'quids'.
